About your privacy
The JMB Communications website was created as a showcase for our writing capabilities for prospective clients -- nothing more, nothing less. Our St. Maarten website provides travel information about our favorite island.
Unless you join "JMB Website Supporters," we have no idea who you are and don't intend to find out. So peruse at will...nobody is taking any private information.
From JMB Website Supporters members, we gather information sufficient to include you in our member database (name, address, email address, and credit card information if you buy by fax or phone). Except for releasing credit card info to our bank so we can collect your payment, we never release any of this information to anyone, for any reason. [Exception: law enforcement authorities with subpoenas, acting in the pursuit of a lawful investigation.] And we never mail anything to your street address unless you ask us to by ordering St. Maarten-related merchandise from us. We do obtain your street address for membership verification / identification purposes when you ask us for something or when you want us to change your email address.
We electronically record the IP address of all members using our "Secret" members-only website to ensure that non-members are not granted access. We monitor IP addresses against usernames to ensure that only authorized, paid members use the site, not unauthorized third parties. We do reserve the right to terminate the memberships of anyone whose secret site access information has fallen into the hands of unauthorized third parties.
NOTE: Some of our pages (our home page, our St. Maarten home page, and our download page) gather information about search engines people use to find us and keywords they use. JMB still does NOT gather any personal information about who is doing the searching.
Terms of Use
Our websites present copyrighted material which may not be reproduced, retained, or disseminated in any way without prior authorization in writing from JMB Communications. Exception: individual tourists using their own printed copies of pages of our St. Maarten site for use during their vacations.
Credit Card Return Policy
Client projects: JMB Communications normally provides a first draft of all projects, and two full rounds of edits -- although the second round of edits is rarely needed. Additional rounds of edits are charged at nominal rates. Payment for all JMB Communications client services is due upon presentation of the first draft or as otherwise agreed in advance. Payments by credit card are not subject to refund.
JMB Website Supporters Memberships & Merchandise: JMB Website Supporters is the membership organization affiliated with our "Everything St. Marten" website that provides travel-related benefits to members. JMB Communications accepts credit card payments by phone, fax, and PayPal® for memberships and membership renewals as well as for some St. Maarten-related merchandise. Since memberships (upon approval) provide immediate access to our members-only website and all its benefits, and such access can not be "returned," JMB Website Supporters memberships are not typically refundable transactions. Nonetheless, requests for refunds are reviewed individually. If refunds are issued, they are subject to an administrative fee of $25. If any member's secret site access password is used by unauthorized third parties, JMB reserves the right to terminate the membership without refund. No member is authorized to "lend" secret site access information to anyone other than his/her spouse or partner, for any reason.
Defective merchandise. If ordered St. Maarten-related merchandise fails to arrive within six weeks of being ordered, arrives defective, or proves defective within 30 days of shipping, it will be replaced free or refunded at JMB's option when returned to us (if applicable); advance authorization is required for all returns. Phone 508-747-8281 daytimes 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST for authorization. Absolutely all claims for merchandise returns must be made within 60 days after the date of the original order. Clothing orders are filled for size only, not for color, since the availability of specific colors varies daily.
Mailing Policies
JMB Communications never sends unsolicited email to anyone. We have two opt-in mailing lists: one for our "free" St. Maarten / St. Martin Weekly Newsletters, and another for members of JMB Website Supporters ("JWS"). Here is what is sent to each:
Newsletter: Those who "opt-in" to receive our free weekly Newsletter get the newsletter every Monday (Tuesdays on holiday weeks); St. Maarten gift mailings in December and early January (related to both the holidays and Valentine's Day); and occasional Airfare Advisories, which alert them that low airfares are available and where to go to get them. (Those who join "JWS" enable the "free" site and "free" newsletter to continue to operate. Please see About Us to learn why "JWS" exists.)
JMB Website Supporters: Since many of the messages published in the "free" newsletter are directed to JMB Website Supporters members, a subscription to our "free" newsletter is included with all JMB Website Supporters memberships. When they join, members also receive a "Welcome" letter with a complete list of benefits, plus contact information (which is re-mailed when it is revised, which isn't often); Airfare Bulletins, telling members about exceptional fares and showing them exactly where/how to get them; and other mail related to member benefits, including invitations to member parties on SXM.
