About Jeff Berger's
St. Maarten/St. Martin Information Center

Jeff (left) hates being photographed,
particularly when he's waiting for breakfast, as he was here. Jeff is founder
and CEO of our parent company, JMB Communications. Jeff's son Scott Berger, at
right with New England Patriots Coach Bill Belichick, has visited St. Maarten
for the last several years and is increasingly involved in writing for our
"Everything St. Maarten" website. That's a Willie McGinest jersey Scott's
wearing. Far Right, American Idol's William Hung (far right) with Gerry Schor
and Madison Schor. Madison will one day visit SXM just like her folks did on
their honeymoon. We have no idea why William Hung is in the picture, which was
shot in May, 2006.

In 1978, when Jeff was a magazine editor (and
Scott was six years old), Jeff and his wife visited St. Maarten to write about a
life insurance conference. They returned a year later, and have been coming back
ever since.In 1990, Jeff founded
JMB Communications, a
Massachusetts-based PR, marketing communications, and Website / Web content
creation company working with Fortune 1000 technology, hospitality, financial,
and other B2B and B2C clients worldwide.
In 1995, Jeff wrote a story about St. Maarten as
a writing sample for the then-new JMB website and submitted it and the rest of
the site to many search engines. That part of his JMB Communications site has
since evolved into the largest, most complete "SXM" (St. Maarten / St.
Martin)-oriented site in the world, and it has now been visited by about
1.2-million island travelers.
Today, as always,
the site is free, as is a weekly St. Maarten/St. Martin newsletter we've been
writing for many years. However, after years of working on all this as a "labor
of love", in 2002 we had a choice: shut it down (since it was costing us a ton
of time and money), or have it somehow generate some revenue. We tried the
latter . . . forming a totally optional, opt-in premium membership "club,"
JMB Website Supporters,
which offers info on getting low airfares; heavily discounted stays in
hotels/timeshares; and a growing list of about a dozen and a half other
benefits, plus St. Maarten/St. Martin
gifts/souvenirs.
Its existence is what makes the "free" site and "free" newsletter possible.
JMB today
consists of Jeff . . . Scott . . . JMB Communications senior writer / SXM
membership director Tracy Green . . . a team of airfare researchers . . . a
seriously overworked computer tech named Greg . . . plus two web designers (one
of whom has helped to get this new site up and running) ... a website optimization
expert ... and "Susan," who prefers anonymity.
Our three main
websites are: JMB
Communications . . . Websites
That Work . . . and Everything
St. Martin . . . with more coming soon.
