The following are links to several other excellent St. Maarten sites:
Jessica Payne lives in St. Maarten and her site has many photographs and interesting facts and links.
St. Maarten "dot org" offers the "Value Guide of St. Maarten" over the Internet. Click http://www.stmaarten.org/ for more...
Robert is the owner of another extensive SXM site, "St. Martin Info," one of the most comprehensive SXM sites on the web. Click here. This one has a lot to offer -- accommodations, lots of links, news. Even some very good wedding links if you're contemplating getting married in paradise. (We have wedding info on our dining pages.)
A growing picture site is here.
Mullet Bay Golf Course is here. It's the only golf course on the island . . .
The AOL Members "I Love SXM" Website . This link changes occasionally so please let us know if you have any connection problems.
Ray Mann's St. Maarten site has personal pages which include vacation pictures, restaurant reviews, FAQs, tourist tips, trip reports, weather/hurricane info, and recipes. Click here.
Cindy & Don Desmond typify the effect SXM has on you. You go, you love it, you come back every year, you bring friends, they love it, they come back every year, ad infinitum. Check out their site at www.cindydesmond.homestead.com .
"GoBeach" is one of the most popular Caribbean sites and has an excellent message board, too (we have two busy boards here as well -- they're mentioned on our SXM home page.) To see the GoBeach site, click here.
The mother of all St. Maarten / St. Martin / Caribbean Message Boards is TravelTalk Online.
Another very good SXM information link we discovered recently is CaribVacation, which covers a number of islands. Click here.
Going to St. Barts? The best St. Barts site is here, it's the Insiders' Guide to St. Barths.
Cricket info: http://www.caribbeancricket.com
Sailing Links: http://www.caribbeanracing.com
Long-time friend, fellow writer and wine expert Jonathon Alsop has a website which will help you maximize your enjoyment of the fine wines in the St. Martin / St. Maarten restaurants featured on our restaurant pages (or in any other restaurants, anywhere). You should visit his site, but don't forget to come back. Click here.
JMB Website Supporters member Mike Esposito gave us these great SXM Cultural Links:
http://www.houseofnehesipublish.com/ features the House of Nehesi Publishers, headed by Mr. Lasana Sekou, with books detailing the history, literature and cultural life of the island. I have the book St. Martin Massive! A Snapshot of Popular Artists ($25) and another recommended book is National Symbols of St. Martin.
http://www.pjlibrary.an/ is the website of the Philipsburg Jubilee Library, which has plenty of links to other St. Martin and Caribbean sites. The library has a bookmobile that visits other parts of St. Maarten.
http://www.speetjens.com, the website of Speetjens and Associates law/notary office, has community pages dedicated to the St. Maarten Museum and to artist Ras Mosera. Jose Speetjens, a resident of St. Maarten since 1976, recently wrote a richly detailed and illustrated book on the history of the island. The book was on sale at the museum when I was there and Mr. Speetjens, whose office is across the alley from the Museum, was there one day to deliver a few copies to some of his friends. If there are any left, I believe the price is $85.
http://www.palacedatours.com provides a tour of the houses of four artists who live on the island. One of these is Roland Richardson, an Impressionist painter who has a house in the French Quarter and has participated in international exhibits.

St. Martin / St. Maarten BeachesSome of St. Maarten's beaches change shape and size according to the whims of Mother Nature. They range from places with surf (and surfers) to quiet coves that are virtually calm and deserted. This page tells you about most of the island's beaches -- including those for people who hate tan lines.
Motorcycle RentalsMotorcycle Rentals are available but if you're not experienced, don't do it. Occasional unexpected potholes are not fun on bikes...
Jeff Berger's Review of The Best Car Rentals in St. Maarten / St. MartinTHE ONLY WAY TO THOROUGHLY ENJOY SXM IS TO RENT A CAR AND SEE IT ALL! We customarily avoid Hertz & Avis here -- they're franchises which must pay franchise charges to Hertz & Avis, so they're usually pricier than local rent-a-car companies. (Hertz & Avis are fine if you want to spend the money. We simply suggest they're not worth it. Both are in SXM, along with National, Budget, and Thrifty. Thrifty recently has acquired a reputation of offering low prices but when you get there, the car you thought you rented is replaced by something smaller and older. Thrifty in SXM is not high on our list.)
Sightseeing in St Maarten / St. MartinThis page gives you lots of info about touring the island, sunset cruises, lagoon cruises, deep-sea fishing trips to neighboring islands, and more. Here goes . . . read this ENTIRE page for all the info!
Getting a Lawyer in St. MaartenSt. Maarten is a rather litigious society. You may need an attorney there in more situations than you think... Stefan Van Der Berg is an attorney with Fox Van Der Berg on SXM. Here, he answers some specific questions about his firm and about when a firm such as his should be consulted by foreigners.
Pictures of St. MaartenPhotos of what is called the "Friendly Island" and it certainly is that, but it could just as easily be called the Rainbow Island, the Butterfly Island, the Flower Island, or the Beach island, because it's loaded with all those things.
Club Orient PicturesLike every other St. Martin / St. Maarten business we talk about on this
site, Club Orient paid nothing for this page. If you stay there, tell them you
heard about them on our website!
Maps of St. Maarten & St. MartinThese street maps are available for your perusal on the web. You can get paper copies free in SXM in the brochure rack you'll find near the exit door of the baggage claim area at the Princess Juliana airport.
St. Maarten Park & ZooThe St. Maarten Park / Zoo is totally unlike anything in the US. It boasts some 200 animals, all of them exclusively from the tropics and a number of them very rare. Chances are you've seen few of them. Stop in and see what these are! Located just east of downtown Philipsburg, the zoo is open just about every day and is inexpensive. Plus, there's a playground for the kids!
Scuba in St. Maarten/St. MartinBoth Paul Chilton and Ric Hetzel have done some marvelous photography in and around St. Maarten. This page presents images created by both. Download "Butterflies, Beasts, and Beneath" screensaver which includes Ric's pictures...
Starting a Business in St. Maarten or Getting A Job ThereMany people ask us about working in St. Maarten. Ric Hetzel, retired former owner of Ric's Place, provided this list of government requirements... his is a very detailed list with exceptions to almost all items. Essentially, work permits will be granted only to people who offer skills or education not available on the local job market. (Of course according to the local Labor Board the locals are all qualified to be brain surgeons and/or rocket scientists.)
The Butterfly FarmThe Butterfly Farm, on the road to Club Orient near Orient Beach, is a flat-out pleasure. Get there early in the morning and witness butterflies being born! Here are a few pictures.
