Here's our third "Celebrating You" Design Star:
Background:
Kim Smart
Smart Interiors

Smart Interiors is a boutique interior decorating firm known for creating inspired interiors. Kim Smart is the principal owner and since launching Smart Interiors in 2002, she has worked with hundreds of clients, making their home decorating dreams a reality.
Her inspirational work has been published in numerous Interior Design publications and she is a featured decorator on HGTV.

The Design Challenge
This 1920s-era Craftsman home reflected the divergent tastes of a century of owners. The exterior was “Barney” purple, the floors were patchwork and the house was tired.
The Objective
To honor the house’s heritage while creating an open, uncluttered living space that reflected the owner’s modern Zen style.
The Lesson
With careful and artful planning, the use of unifying features and colors, and lots of natural light, a small place can be big on both style and utility.
Kim’s project, entitled “New Twist,” was featured in the Union Tribune’s Coastal Home Magazine on March 22, 2014, and appears on pages 13-18. Click here to read the article and see more pictures of this amazing project.

Here's how you can make it shine and be seen!
Simply email (or drop by) a photo of one of your favorite projects. It can be commercial or residential, dramatic or fun... or maybe a unique idea application or theme. Be sure to include a short project description.
Submissions must be received by the 25th of each month to be considered for the following month's DESIGN STAR spotlight.
